SKR’s Forum on the Future of Health, Healthcare and Care for Older People – 26 January 2027

We are shaping the future of care for older people today!

The welfare sector faces challenges, and many local authorities are exploring new ways of organising and delivering welfare services to meet current and future needs in health and social care. The new Social Services Act, together with the ‘Nära vård’ initiative, provides both direction and support for this transformation. Competition for labour and global instability are affecting the conditions for both current and future healthcare and social care. Modern care for older people needs to become more person-centred, more proactive and preventative, with welfare technology and digital solutions making life easier for both older people and staff.

This conference is your meeting place, offering inspiration and the opportunity for discussions and meetings with other local authority representatives and stakeholders. Throughout the day, we will share insights and strategies and explore practical solutions relating to this year’s focus areas: finance and demographics, being an attractive employer, and new ways of meeting needs.

Together, we can strengthen our collective capacity for action and shape the future of care and support for older people. Adjacent to the venue, you will also have the chance to meet a selection of exhibitors. Book the date now!

This year’s conference theme

This is the event that offers inspiration and the opportunity for discussions and meetings with others who are driving development in elderly care. Throughout the day, we will share insights and strategies, and explore practical solutions relating to this year’s focus areas:

Economy and demography

The growing number of older people poses major challenges for the country’s local authorities and regions. Changes in the population affect the conditions for welfare.

New ways of meeting needs

There is a great need to find working methods that are sustainable in the long term and that contribute to the smart use of resources and skills. Welfare technology and digitalisation are part of this, but so are new ways of leading and managing.

An attractive employer

Increased demand and greater competition for labour, limited financial resources and significant variations in quality and working conditions are examples of challenges that are already being felt.
